The following are general guidelines, questions, and information that can help you find the right Pilates program and qualified instructor.


Frequently Asked Questions: 


Can anyone do Pilates? Yes, Pilates is for people of all ages and fitness levels.  At Pilates International sessions are taught one on one or in a small group mat or equipment class.  Pilates can be tailored for all individual needs. 


What is the best way to get started in a Pilates program? The best way to begin a Pilates program is to take private sessions or a beginner group class.  Please call the studio and speak with our studio director to discuss where you should start.


How many times a week should I do Pilates for best results?  Although Pilates is safe to do everyday, it is recommend a minimum of 3 times a week for best results.


What are the benefits of Pilates? Pilates is a movement system that teaches your body how to move correctly by strengthening the core musculature, which includes the abdominals, back, inner thighs, and buttocks.  As a result you attain total body increased muscular strength, flexibility, stability, and improved posture. 


How long is a session?  All private or duet sessions are 55 minutes.  All group classes are 50 minutes.


What should I wear?  Please wear what you feel comfortable in, but avoid clothing that is too oversized. Shoes are not worn and socks are optional.


Can Pilates help a bad back?  It is very possible that Pilates will help.  You should consult with your doctor before starting Pilates or any other fitness program.  Private sessions will be the best place to start and the Pilates program will be tailored for you needs.
